Hello friends! September 30 is International Translation Day. I congratulate you all for your hard work as interpreters, participation and pier-sharing, and your constant hunger for improvement. I wish you all a wonderful holiday and hope you're enjoying this beautiful autumn weather. It was great meeting with you at the Interpreter's Cafe. Richard contributed great idiomatic expressions that made us think long and hard. One was: "De noche todos los gatos son negros." How would you say that in English? We discussed the translation of terms: case law, tort law and Catalina later sent me a wonderful glossary she had compiled during her translation work. Some of her terms were used to enrich the civil court glossary below. Nelly joined our meeting. She is a future court interpreter currently shadowing any chance she can. I feel our meeting was productive and fun. I look forward to seeing you again next month! |
